Based on the outskirts of the town of Doué la Fountaine, you will find an extra-ordinary place where over 1500 different species of animals live in enclosures designed to replicate their natural environment.
The Bioparc is dedicated to the protection of many endangered species but unlike other zoo’s, they have used the natural terrain of caves and naturally formed structures to build the enclosures. This allows visitors to get really close to the animals but also provides environments where animals can co-habit the same enclosure.
The park is based on two levels, the first being the lower levels which give you access to Giraffe, Zebra, Leopards and the most amazing bird enclosures. The bird enclosures are a highlight for many visitors as you can go into the enclosure and have parrots flying over your heads, providing some truly unique personal experiences.
As you move through the park you encounter lions, monkeys, tigers, hippopotamus, rhino and bears and so much more.
The park is very well laid out with easy access for everyone, even during busy times. There are frequent places to sit and enjoy the atmosphere as well as regular talks by the keepers.
The Bioparc are always adding new enclosures as well as updating the existing ones to ensure that all the animals in their care have the very best environments in order to flourish.
With a lovely restaurant overlooking the Giraffe and Zebra enclosure as well as a themed shop, it is a great day out for all the family, but especially for anyone who is an animal lover.
